The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bujar Osmani, delivered a presentation today at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to students from several universities in the country on the forthcoming United States – North Macedonia Strategic Dialogue, scheduled to be held on 2 June in Washington.
Presenting the Dialogue, Minister Osmani stressed that this was an extremely important process designed to produce considerable benefits to North Macedonia and its citizens in both the medium and long term.
"The Strategic Dialogue represents an upgrade on the traditionally friendly relations as well as a confirmation of the strong alliance between the two countries. North Macedonia is the first country of the Western Balkan Six to start this process," Osmani pointed out, adding that the bilateral cooperation between North Macedonia and the United States gained another dimension with the launch of the Dialogue, with it having been devised to produce concrete a set of goals and results.
In particular, seeing as it is of interest to the academic community and students, Minister Osmani emphasized that the Dialogue agenda will put the onus on the future cooperation between the two countries in education and student exchange programs. "This will open new opportunities for intensifying relations between young people from both countries, by promoting cultural and educational exchanges. It involves, among other things, scholarships for several academic, professional and cultural programs intended for students, teachers, professionals, and future leaders from the Republic of North Macedonia," Minister Osmani informed.
The event was attended by representatives of the US Embassy in Skopje, as well as by numerous diplomats from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, with students having an opportunity to engage in an interactive discussion which they used to learn more about the topics of their interest.
